Wasif A. Qureshi, MD, FACC, FSCAI

Dr. Wasif Qureshi has always been committed to providing the highest quality of cardiovascular care to his patients in Delaware since 2007.

Dr. Wasif Qureshi is a Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Internal Medicine at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

He is currently the President and Governor of the American College of Cardiology for Delaware (March 2020-2023).

He finished his medical school at Aga Khan University Medical College in 1998 and then completed his Internal Medicine residency, Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology fellowship at West Virginia University School of Medicine.

He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. His expertise is in General Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Endovascular Interventions and Structural Heart Disease.

He was Associate Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization labs from 2010 to 2012 and then Medical Director Structural Heart Disease at Christiana Care from 2012 to date.

Dr. Qureshi has a keen interest in new technologies that help patients. He has been part of the TAVR program (a minimally invasive procedure to replace the aortic valve) and performed the first TAVR in Delaware in Feb 2012.

He launched the Watchman Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion (LAAO) program with the first implant in Delaware in Nov 2015. He then performed the first Watchman Flex LAAO implant for the State if Delaware and the greater Philadelphia region in August 2020.

He performed the first MitraClip implant in Delaware in Oct 2018.

He has been involved in research at Christianacare and been the co-PI of the INPACT-DCB Trial, ABSORB III Trial, COBRA Reduce Trial, REPRISE IV to name a few

Dr. Qureshi has been training Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology fellows at Christiana Care Hospital since 2007.

He is one of the partners of Delaware Cardiovascular Associates and actively involved in the management of the northern region (www.decardio.com)

He is known as “the doctor who listens to his patients”. He is passionate about helping his patients achieve and maintain the best quality of life and continues to strive for excellent care for all of his patients in Delaware and Maryland.

Dr. Wasif Qureshi was honored by the Delaware Today magazine as one of the Top Doctors in Delaware for three years in a row from 2019 to 2021.
